I feel that I have definitely improved since my mock performance. I was able to sing the song to a much higher standard, being able to sing the song without the need of distortion on any of the belting notes which in turn made the piece sound much more sorrowful and true to the original version of the song. I also think that I made a great deal of improvement on my characterisation within the piece, as I was able to stay in character throughout the entire performance and I never broke focus from my performance.
In order to improve on these aspects of my performance, I made sure to rehearse the song a number of times. This ensured that I got comfortable with singing the song without use of distortion in my voice and I could also practise being fully focused while performing. To make sure I kept my focus, I would find multiple set points of focus in the room that I could look at that were above the audience, this made sure that I was still engaging with the audience but also ensured that I was still focused on the piece I was performing and that it was being done to the best of my ability.
I also feel that I have definitely improved on my SMART Targets that I had set for myself. I was able to consistently sing the piece while having good breath control, as I could perform the piece multiple times using specific moments to take breaths in the song which I had found through rehearsing the piece multiple times. As mentioned earlier, I think I have also improved on my characterisation and emotional connection within the song, as in addition to the overall improvements to building upon the character of Joseph I also added to the sobbing aspect of my vocals to further add to the emotion that Joseph was going through during this song.
However, I do think that I still need to improve on my performance of the song. In particular my stage presence as although I have greatly improved on my use of character I feel I was a little stationary during the performance. I could have remedied this by moving from stage left to right and vice versa during the verses of the song, I think that this along with the changes in levels I used would have bought the character to life even further and added to portraying the emotions that he was going through during this point of the play.
