Warm Ups
Warm up exercises are something I have always been told are important when singing and are something I should do before I begin to perform; however before now I haven't really ever tried. I have found that completing warm ups before singing has helped to increase my vocal range and has allowed me to sing more harsh or difficult vocals with more ease which as a result has put less strain on my voice.
I have particularly found warm ups that increase in pitch most helpful as they have helped discover different vocal ranges that I was unaware I could sustain and use effectively for long periods of time, these have given me more scope to be more adventurous in my choosing of songs and what key to sing them in.
Learning Songs For Six
So far I have found learning the songs for Six not as difficult as I have for other songs in the past. I feel it helps that many of the songs flow incredibly well, making it easier to learn, however I also think it is much easier as I am learning dances alongside these songs which help cement them into my mind much better as I connect certain lyrics with dances moves; I am hoping this continues to make learning the rest of the songs much easier.
What Do I Still Need To Work On?
I still need to work on my confidence while singing the song "Get Down" for my understudy role, although I can hit all of the notes the song there are moments in which I have to reach for notes that I would not normally sing and for that I just a little more experience with the song to feel properly confident while singing it.
What Have I Learned So Far?
So far I have learned the importance of warming up before singing no matter if I am only just rehearsing, I have also discovered certain keys that I can sustainably sing in that I was unaware of before. These are all things that I hope to further build upon and improve on even more in the future.
